The Nexus Site Protocol
Nexus has an ordered process for collecting information at a customer (i.e., laboratory) location. This information is obtained through reports, interviews and observations.
Reports – We may ask for reports in the form of test volumes, employee schedules and test patterns. We do not expect you to provide any information that is not currently being generated from LIS reports or through the normal reporting process. We would not ask for any customized reports or anything that would require extra time to provide. We are trained and mindful of HIPPA regulations.
Interviews - A part of our data collection is in the form of interviews. In addition to one or two brief formal meetings, we will informally interact / interview the laboratory staff. These interactions will be limited and only occur during appropriate (off-peak) times.
Observations – Mindful that this is your workplace, our approach is to conduct our visit so as not to interfere in any way. At the same time we hope to observe situations that are “normal”. Therefore we spend most of the site visit conducting discrete observations of the workflow and activities being conducted without asking questions. We will ask permission before taking any digital images of what we are seeing, and in all cases we will be aware of the work being conducted.
